Thunderbirds

Costume design: Marrit Allen.

Embroidery for Villain: “The Hood” played by Sir Ben Kingsley in “Thunderbirds”. The embroidery was based on original artwork for the character.

The body of the dragon is composed of a base of black and gold metal thread. On top of the dark thread is a varieted shading in clear silver. The shading highlights the curves of the body and emphasizes the reptilian look.

This project demonstrated the importance of trying to perfect the balance between keeping the embroidery soft and flexible while preserving weight and texture enough to register from a distance.
