Big Fish

Costume design: Coleen Atwood.

This and two more waistcoats were made for the character “Ed Bloom” played by Ewan McGregor. The design had to work in a circus scene and it is inspired by an eastern European motif. It is composed of sections of satin stitch and special stitches resembling stemstitches.

Despite the simple embroidery the costume worked very well because Colleen Atwood had chosen a piece of antique velvet with wonderful patina. Without much effort the waistcoat had a special feeling of age and history.
